My Very Ownest Dot Com

Who says dot com anymore? I do.

Anyways, I own and operate http://bsgeek.com, therefore I won't be giving any other website all those wonderful internets of mines. That's where I put my stupid pictures and rantings nowadays.

See me at Technorati here.

Job Search Tips

For those whom know me, they've been listening to my continued attempts to upgrade my employment.

Thankfully, I've learned a lot from the process, and I think I know more human resourse people than you do now.

Knowledge I feel obligated to pass along as follows:

To answer the question "Why _____ for a job?"

Wrong:  I was so glad to see your now hiring I cried for 10 minutes. My boss is unqualified, comes in late, cracks farts, and smells like an old sock. (While this may be true, not smart to say)

Right:  Actually, I wasn't looking for a job, but when I saw it was YOU....  (Hopefully true statement)

The improper way to pester someone for a job:

I was wondering if the position was filled already. (Encouraging knee-jerk y/n questions is never good)

The proper way to pester someone about the job:

Could you give me a rough estimate/timeframe when I should follow up regarding a hiring decision? (Oh snap, this makes one think, don't it?)

Good Luck out there people!!

i am not dead!

jeepers, it's been crazy to be me lately. as a cost-cutting measure (aka something I didn't get around to doing) I got the cable internet at my apartment cut off.

and my work's been absolutely crazy this week, hell, last two months.

i'm going on vacation in a few days, and expect me to post like 4300 pictures that i've taken and getting them posted.

cheers.

attention computer nerds

has anybody tried/done putting two slim/laptop optical drives in the
space usually taken up my one normal size (5 1/4") dvd/cd drive? I'm
looking at a case that only has one external slot, and just cannot give
up having 2 trays to throw cds/games/whatever into.

Something positive for a change.

I seems to be in the habit of blogging whenever I'm miserable at another portion of humanity. I just wanted to let everybody know that I'm doing just wonderful today (hell, this week!).

Here's an example of how charmed my life is.... I had my ipod on shuffle this morning, and it played the following (in order!) and totally made my day thus far:

1. Yaz - Move Out
2. Orgy - Stitches
3. Rock the Casbah

All by itself, from 4700 songs, it chooses the 3 songs that may just be the perfect pill to listen to synth rock, which I happen to be on a kick with.

AND... I get out of work early, and then off to the thrift store I go!!

Man, life can be sweet sometimes.

Oh crap the MMO monster again

I used to be an everquest addict. Not seriously bad, because I had dial-up. But now, I have a decent video card in my computer, i've done nothing with my life besides play Lineage 2.

I'm not really complaining, I was looking to see if anybody played WOW decently with a system at these specs, I'd hate to buy it without knowing it ran quasi-decently.

- Athalon XP 1800+ (1.6 Ghz)
- 256 DDRam
- 64 MB Nvidia
- 7200 RPM HDD
- 16x DVD-ROM

Thank you fellow nerds.

Looking for a new job

Since I'm 22, I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with my life.

However, I got in touch with my feminine side, and it told me what I didn't want (you ladies are so good at that!) So, if you're happening to be sitting on a 35+k/yr job that doesnt have any of the following, let me know, eh?

I do not want the following

1. Anything in direct sales.
2. More than 50 hours a week without the magic of 1.5x
3. Dress codes that confuse me
4. Something that takes all my attention
5. Anything slower than 1.2 mbps internet access
6. Nowhere to put pictures of dumb crap to make the place look like my house
7. No personal days for the first 6 months.
8. More than biweekly pay plans
9. More than 50% of my pay being performance based
10. Anything where I have to recruit my own underlings
11. Where you get to pick my underlings
12. If I double your sales YOY, I don't want to hear about operations audits no more often than every 48 hours.
13. Say you're interested in personal growth, and than, cut my training budget.
14. I swear to god if I'm told one more time I'm the best of the best, and have to clean my own bathroom, I promice you I will go batshit.

Thanks!

Being a twentysomething is darn interesting!

I have this almost sociological obsession with the abilities of my peers to romance each other.

People, to me, are like this huge bingo ball cage, each of us a ball. We're all bouncing around in this sea of hormones just rattling off each other, becoming stuck, sometimes in groups, to each other, and falling off just as fast.

It's amazing to watch from the outside looking in. Unfortunately, I'm rarely that detached.

But hoo boy, sometimes it can smart a little being in there.

    September 4, 2005

    So, it's almost my birthday.

Let's see what I went and got done in the last year.

20 year old Zach lived in a crappy rowhome in the part of town where Whitey fears to tread.
21 year old Zach moved to a nicer place in a neighborhood that an alchololic plumber would be proud to live in.

20 year old Zach had a girlfriend of three years.
21 year old Zach has been through three girls this year.

20 year old Zach was a salesperson, who just got manager training.
21 year old Zach has been running his own store for 8 months now.

20 year old Zach drank a beer every quarter, or so.
21 year old Zach had a month's worth of hangovers.

20 year old Zach prolly ate two things that were good for him.
21 year old Zach just went and bought fruit and yogurt.

20 year old Zach didn't know jack shit, and thought he did.
21 year old Zach thinks he has an idea, but knows better than to assume.

20 year old Zach used to ignore reality, because it was just too darn unpleasant.
21 year old Zach spent a half hour just thinking last night, making plans.

20 year old Zach musta weighed 235-240 at his peak.
21 year old Zach's going into his 22nd year at a lean and mean 205-210

Gifts of cash, food, and full-frontal nudity are accepted as birthday gifts.

Also, I'd like a Sprint PCS Treo 600 from SOMEBODY.

Factoid: My birthday also marks the one-year anniversary of my using a camera phone. This old shot of the Philadelphia skyline was the first picture i kept from getting it that day.

    August Summary

Well, August, for me, sucked. I did manage to move out from the shit shithole that I was living in, and for that I am very happy and grateful to all who helped me out in that process.

With that said, I don't think I've had more than twenty bucks to my name since moving. I have to squeeze in 3 months of rent... so that's $1350. So I gotta pay rent like 5 of 6 checks. I'd like to

I did get to watch a lot of movies, tho! Man, the list for that's been enormous. Since late June-ish, I've seen (and thought of):

    • Wedding Crashers (3.75/5)
    • Snatch (4.5/5)
    • Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy (4/5)
    • Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (4.8/5)
    • Trainspotting
    • Something's Gotta Give
    • Billy Madison
    • Constantine
    • Matrix Revolutions
    • Used Cars (like 3 times, I love that flick!)
    • Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle
    • Trekkies
    • Con Air
    • Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
    • Mallrats
    • Oceans's 11 and 12
    • Pi

That's all I can remember right now. But damn, that's a lot. That's like 30 hours of  my life vegetating.

Anybody wanna go kick a soccer ball around?

    Port Richmond

    So, I go and move.

I really have to start thinking socially when I move next time. There's no burgeoning 20 something crowd calling my neighborhood the greatest. I don't really see myself as a person who really belongs in any given neighborhood, cause of reasons I'm loath to discuss in any public way. But darn it, maybe i should of moved to west philly where's there a bunch of things to do, and rock shows and the like.

Whoops, only 11 months left on my lease.
